Winnipeg Jets Lose Key Player to Injury, Listed as Week-to-Week

In some unfortunate news coming from the Jets today, the team announced that Neal Pionk is going to miss several games with an injury, as he's now week-to-week.
Winnipeg Jets defenseman Neal Pionk is week-to-week with an undisclosed injury, head coach Scott Arniel confirmed Friday via TSN's John Lu.

Pionk has played 66 games this season with nine goals and 28 assists for 37 points, second among Jets defensemen. He also has 44 penalty minutes, a plus-21, and averages 22:09 per game in ice time, second only to Josh Morrissey.
Pionk came to Winnipeg during the 2019 Jacob Trouba trade
Picked up from the New York Rangers in 2019 in the Jacob Trouba trade, Pionk has totaled 36 goals and 178 assists for 214 points in 432 games for Winnipeg.
The former Minnesota Duluth Bulldog signed a rookie contract with the Rangers in 2017 as an undrafted free agent. In 533 games in his NHL career, the 29-year-old has totaled 43 goals and 211 assists for 254 points.
His best season was in 2019-20 when he scored a career-high 45 points in 71 games. Pionk has also contributed with 14 points in 22 playoff games.
PuckPedia shows that Pionk is in the final year of his four-year, $5.875-million average annual value deal and will be an unrestricted free agent this summer.
The Jets lead the NHL with a 45-17-4 mark (94 points). With Tuesday's win over the Rangers, they seek a second straight win Friday against divisional foe, the Dallas Stars.
Winnipeg has qualified for the Stanley Cup Playoffs each of the past two seasons.
