Scott Arniel and the Jets are intent on chasing a Stanley Cup in 2025/26, and now he's opened up on how the team are set to handle expectations.

Last season, the Winnipeg Jets took home the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference, taking another step forward as they got through round one, only to fall to the Dallas Stars in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Heading into 2025/26, this is still clearly a team with ambition, and given that they've got the MVP and the Vezina Trophy winner on their side, it's easy to see why they're so confident.

Scott Arniel opens up on how to handle expectations

While the Jets have been good in recent years, they took it to another level in 2024/25, and now, they've got the expectations to go with it, as Head Coach Scott Arniel recently addressed how to handle those expectations to The Athletic.
Every one of us in this room, we've talked about it and we're not afraid to talk about the Stanley Cup. There's a ton of work that has to happen to get there.

On top of the work they've put in, Arniel knows his group understands the things they are capable of accomplishing this season.
Our group realizes that when we play our style, when we attack the way we attack, when we defend the way we defend, our specialty teams are good and we get real good goaltending, that we're as good as anybody in this league

Finally, Arniel divulged the message he sent to his team during a speech at team dinner as training camp opens.
My message to the team last night when we met for dinner, I said, 'We got our compete level up. We got into the fight. Now we've got to win the fight. We're getting into the battles. Now we've got to win the battles. I know that sounds broad, but at the end of the day, I'm watching playoffs and when you're watching at the end, it's those teams that decide, 'OK, we're going to do this on a consistent basis. This is going to be how we play.
With a team that still boasts the likes of Kyle Connor, Mark Scheifele, Josh Morrissey and so many others, it's easy to see why there's optimism, and with Arniel keeping the team level headed and focused on every individual play and battle, the sky is the limit in Winnipeg.
