On the opening night of NHL hockey, the Winnipeg Jets have stolen the spotlight as Kyle Connor is reportedly closing in on an extension with the team.

Over the last several weeks, reports confirmed that Kyle Connor and the Jets were deep into extension talks and that it was only a matter of time before a deal was completed.
Now, just two days before the Jets first game of the season Connor and Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff have reportedly agreed to a long-term deal.

According to multiple sources the Jets and Connor are finalizing a deal that will keep him in Winnipeg for 8 seasons.
Further details from insider Elliotte Friedman confirmed that the average salary will be near 12 million for Kyle Connor similar to the contract of Oilers star Connor McDavid.
As of now, the deal is still in the works between the two sides and has not been finalized but seems to be well down the path toward completion.
Connor, 28, has been a consistent performer for the Winnipeg Jets and is coming off of his best season in the NHL amassing 41 goals and 97 points during the 2025-26 season.
This is a huge accomplishment for GM Kevin Cheveldayoff to get Connor signed and at a steep discount compared to the numbers that were thrown out by insiders and analysts speculating about what the deal would look like.
With the deal seemingly done, Connor and the Jets can turn their focus back to the ice and hopefully repeating as the President's Trophy Winner on their journey toward another Stanley Cup Playoff berth.
As more details emerge on Connor's new deal we will pass them along to you.
