It's official, three-time Stanley Cup champion Jonathan Toews has agreed to play for the Winnipeg Jets next season, with a contract signing expected on July 1st.

Jets fans rejoice, Jonathan Toews is coming home. The three-time Stanley Cup champion has agreed to join the Winnipeg Jets next season, per NHL insider Pierre LeBrun.
While a contract can't officially be signed until July 1st, the two sides have verbally agreed on a one-year deal, and ink will be put to paper in a few days.
This will finally end speculation as to where Toews would play, as it was rumored the remaining two teams in the running for his services were the Jets and the Colorado Avalanche.
The Leafs were also said to be in the running, but Toews was likely looking for a smaller market to resume his career in.

Toews hasn't played an NHL game in over two years

The 37-year-old has been out of hockey for two years after dealing with some side effects of long COVID.
The three-time Stanley Cup champion with Chicago is looking to bring that playoff-winning pedigree to a Jets team that doesn't have much of it on its current roster.
Toews revealed that he wanted to play again back in January, with speculation that he would want to put on a Jets uniform. By the end of that month, it was revealed that there was mutual interest from Winnipeg.
The plan was most likely for him to start playing again during the 2025-26 season, which will now be happening. Late in May, it became official that he was fully committed to playing next season.
