During his post game press conference tonight Winnipeg Jets head coach Scott Arniel was asked about multiple missed calls by the officials and had an interesting response. The Winnipeg Jets have gotten off to a rough start to the season for their standards in large part due to key injuries. Without those key players like Adam Lowry and Cole Perfetti the margin of error for the Jets has become razor thin and tonight that was taken to the extreme after multiple questionable calls by the officials. The missed calls in question both came on the first goal by the Minnesota Wild with Kirill Kaprizov seemingly knocking the puck down with a high stick. This then caused a net front battle in which it looks like Connor Hellebuyck's pad along with the puck is shoved into the net.

Loading from Twitter ...

After the game, Arniel addressed the moment and whether or not the Jets' staff considered challenging the call and overall his thoughts on the officiating.
Scott Arniel Addresses Potential Missed Calls By Officials
During his post game press conference, Arniel was asked directly about the officiating and whether or not he considered challenging the Kaprizov goal. In his response, Arniel admits the staff considered challenging the play for multiple reasons first looking for a high stick on the initial redirection. I think there was a little bit of everything going on on that one. It looked like it was a high stick and we finally found an angle. But, it's tough in that 30 seconds to try and find everything. Then looking for goaltender interference was the next challenge for Arniel and his staff. Then it was where was the puck when the whistle was blown. Was it under Helle's pad, did they pitchfork him, that type of thing. In the end, Arniel did not feel confident enough to challenge the call but does seem to maintain that he thinks the wrong call was made by the officials. At the end of the day the puck was laying there and there was contact but I don't think we could've found that quick enough to challenge it.

Loading from Twitter ...

Luckily, at the end of the day the missed calls did not come back to haunt the Jets as they responded strongly and won the game 4-3 in overtime. With Scott Arniel's comments about the officiating it will be interesting to see if he ends up facing any monetary discipline for challenging the calls made by the officials in the media press conference.
