Scott Arniel Makes Official Announcement on Gabriel Vilardi's Status for Game 5

The Winnipeg Jets are receiving a big scoring piece in Gabriel Vilardi as he returns to the lineup for Game 5 against the St. Louis Blues.

Vilardi, who has missed games since March 23 with an upper-body issue, was confirmed by head coach Scott Arniel that he'll be back on the ice for Wednesday's game, as per The Athletic's Murat Ates.

In Tuesday's practice, the 25-year-old winger skated with Kyle Connor and Mark Scheifele on the top line and was back in the first power-play unit. He comes back at a good time, as Winnipeg has struggled to score, with five goals in Games 2-4.

Vilardi had a breakout regular season with a career high of 27 goals, including a team-high 12 on the power play.

Vilardi was nearing a Game 4 return, even participating in warmups before being kept back. Arniel indicated he's now completely cleared to play.

Meanwhile, forward Nikolaj Ehlers skated by himself before his team's practice as he continues to progress, recovering from a foot injury suffered April 12.

Ehlers, who had 24 goals and 63 points this season, was in a regular white contact jersey today, but will revert to a yellow non-contact jersey tomorrow and is not likely to return right away.

This wasn't his first skate, as Arniel confirmed Ehlers has been doing some solo work while in Winnipeg on the road.

On the St. Louis side, defenseman Tyler Tucker is out for Game 5 after he was hurt late in Game 4. The 25-year-old, who scored his first playoff goal in his career in that game, is day-to-day, Blues head coach Jim Montgomery announced.
