New Oilers goaltender Connor Ingram, who was called up from the AHL because of the injury to Tristan Jarry, got a vote of confidence from Keith Gretzky before his debut in an Oilers sweater.
Because of the injury to Edmonton Oilers goaltender Tristan Jarry, who was acquired from the Pittsburgh Penguins last Friday, the club had to call up goaltender Connor Ingram from the Bakersfield Condors.
Ingram will back up Calvin Pickard tomorrow when the Oilers face Quinn Hughes and the Minnesota Wild.
Ahead of his first game in the regular season wearing an Oilers sweater, Ingram is getting a vote of confidence from Keith Gretzky, the brother of Wayne, who is the Condors GM and is an assistant general manager with the Edmonton Oilers.
Ingram's worked hard to get his game in order, mentally he's ready. He's got a lot more experience in the NHL than (Bakersfield's other goalie Matt) Tomkins.
Ingram's stats haven't been great but we're not the best defensive team, we're young and we think offence. That's our motto. Stats aren't everything for me. A guy can have nine assists and he can be a dog, right? - Keith Gretzky

Connor Ingram Was Recently In The NHLPA Player Assistance Program
Ingram missed most of last season wit the Utah Hockey Club because of a stay in the NHL Player Assistance Program to deal with the anxiety he felt following the tragic loss of his mother last December from breast cancer.
He completed his stay in the program in August and was cleared to return to NHL competition.
Upon entering the program, Ingram said he needed to prioritize his health and do what was needed to eventually come back at full strength.
At this point in my life, I need to put my health first and (to) take the proper time I need away to come back at 100%. - Connor Ingram
So far in his NHL career with the Arizona Coyotes/Utah Mammoth, Ingram is 39-44-15 with a .902 SV%
