Winnipeg Jets defenseman Josh Morrissey, who helped them win the President's Trophy last year, knows that they must do a better job competing for the Stanley Cup this year. Last year, the Winnipeg Jets won the President's Trophy for the 1st time in team history as the NHL's best regular season team and were considered one of the favourites to win the Stanley Cup. They beat the divisional foe St. Louis Blues in a thrilling 7 game series in the WCQF that included a miracle finish, but were defeated by the Dallas Stars in 6 games in the WCSF. The Jets still have aspirations of not only regular season success but of winning the Cup, something that defenseman Josh Morrissey says that nobody on the team will be satisfied until they achieve. We've worked very hard as an organization, as individual players and as a team to continue to take steps forward. We have done that over the last 3 seasons for sure, you're never satisfied until you win the Stanley Cup, it's the ultimate goal. I think it's exciting, of course, all it does is give us a chance to win but it's how we feel and it's been cool. It's a great feeling to know we've put ourselves in that position by hard work and effort. It's just beginning, we have a long way to go. The Jets feel they are in good position to achieve that goal with the contract extension for Kyle Connor and the signing of former 3x Stanley Cup winning Chicago Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews. Last year, Morrissey had 62 points (14G, 48A) in 80 games.
Josh Morrissey has played his entire NHL career with the Jets
Morrissey was taken by the Jets with the 13th overall pick in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, and has played his entire career in the Winnipeg organization. He has also represented Canada in multiple international tournaments. Morrissey has played in 662 career NHL games and has 373 points (80G, 293A).
