Tonight playing with a heavy heart Mark Scheifele scored likely one of the biggest goals of his career against the Dallas Stars.

After learning of the tragic passing of his father last night Mark Scheifele decided to suit up for Game 6 in the Stanley Cup Playoffs against the Dallas Stars to honor his father.
Heading into the game, it was unknown how much we would see Scheifele on the ice and how close to full strength he would be.
While the first period of the game finished with only 11 total shots between the two teams Scheifele made his mark in the second period.
Just over 3 minutes into the second period Scheifele drove toward the net and found the puck off of a rebound putting home the first goal of the game.
The goal not only put the Jets in the lead but was the ultimate tribute to his father who Scheifele was playing for tonight.

Fans Take To Social Media To Celebrate Mark Scheifele's Emotional Goal

As soon as the goal was scored, social media exploded with support and admiration for Scheifele.
While the goal will not take away the grief that is likely to come for Mark and his family at least in that moment the Scheifele family had something to celebrate during a difficult moment.
Scheifele's mother even admitted that the distraction of the game is just what Mark needs in this moment as the family continues to grieve.
Currently, Scheifele's tally is the only goal of the game for the Jets as the game is tied 1-1.
