Connor Hellebuyck Joins Martin Brodeur in Rare Goalie Milestone Not Seen in 20 Years

Winnipeg Jets goaltender Connor Hellebuyck took home the 2024-25 William M. Jennings Trophy, awarded to the goaltender who plays at least 25 games for the team that yields the fewest goals in the regular season.

Teammate Eric Comrie, who played less than 25 games, did not qualify. Hellebuyck is the first goalie in NHL history to win the Jennings Trophy outright in consecutive seasons.

He's only the fifth to do it in consecutive years, joining Brian Hayward, Patrick Roy, Martin Brodeur, and Roman Turek. The Jets also became the first team to win the award in consecutive seasons, period.

The 31-year-old led the NHL with a 47-12-3 mark in 63 games, second only to Braden Holtby and Brodeur for career wins in a season.

Hellebuyck also became the fourth-fastest goalie in league history to reach 300 career victories and set Jets franchise marks for wins and shutouts.

Winnipeg concluded the regular season allowing a league-low 191 goals and set a franchise record 10 shutouts. The Jets held foes to two or fewer goals in 46 of 82 games and three or fewer in 61 contests.

With the regular season complete, Hellebuyck and the Jets now look to the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs, beginning against the St. Louis Blues on Saturday.

Since they moved back to Winnipeg in 2011, this will be their seventh playoff opener and third in a row. Their finest streak was in 2018, reaching the Western Conference Final before falling to the Vegas Golden Knights.
