Jets Connor Hellebuyck loves helping out in the community, especially when it involves kids, which includes mental wellness books he wrote and hockey gear donations.

Connor Hellebuyck launched the publication of his children's mental well-being book in January 2023 and is completely devoted to the cause that his book represents.
He goes through instances of his youth, shares experiences of his life, and explains the challenges that a world-class NHL goaltender faces, all because kids should understand the matter of mental well-being the way Hellebuyck could not during his childhood.

What Connor Hellebuyck's books are about

Together with Steinbach illustrator Thom Van Dyke, the book delivers two stories that intersect each other. "Bucky Beats the Blues" brings readers through the story of a young buck and his experience of coping with his best friend's relocation.
The other story, "Is Something Wrong With Weasel?" explores the idea of a group of friends who understand that one of the members may require the intervention of a parent.
The book itself emphasizes the need to seek help and includes resources such as Kids Help Phone. The profit of the book goes to Project 11, a True North project that aims to bring mental health into schools, paying tribute to Rick Rypien's legacy.

Why Connor Hellebuyck's initiatives have taken yet another step forward

Hellebuyck has also recently extended his community involvement by donating brand new equipment to the MASRC Sports Equipment Bank, so that more young people have the opportunity to participate in the sport that launched his career and changed his life. This is yet another way Hellebuyck is using his platform for good.
Hellebuyck has never been shy about his experiences with mental health and the vulnerability that comes with his line of work.
"I know my truths".

He's conveyed a message to kids that seeking help is a sign of strength and that you're not alone when it comes to a challenge.
