Today the Vancouver Canucks have announced the signing of one of their top prospects from the NCAA to an entry-level contract. The Vancouver Canucks remain in a Stanley Cup Playoff race but today have made a move for the future of the organization. According to multiple sources, the Canucks have agreed to an entry-level deal with 2021 NHL Draft pick Aku Koskenvuo from Harvard University.

Loading from Twitter ...

The deal will reportedly begin next season with Koskenvuo joining the organization on an amateur tryout for the remainder of this season.

Loading from Twitter ...

It is expected that Koskenvuo will report to the AHL team in Abbotsford to begin working with the development staff there in preparation for a full season with the organization in 2025-26. Before signing with the Canucks Koskenvuo was one of the best goaltenders in the NCAA this season ending up as an All-Ivy League Honorable Mention as well as Academic All-Ivy League an impressive feat on its own.

Loading from Twitter ...

Over Koskenvuo's three seasons at Harvard, he improved each year becoming the primary starter this season and one of the club's biggest stars. Despite his individual success, Harvard ended its season with a loss to Clarkson in a playoff series, in which Koskenvuo was a bright spot for the team.

Loading from Twitter ...

It remains to be seen what Koskenvuo's future holds for him in professional hockey but at 22 years old he has plenty of development runway ahead of him to become an impactful player in the NHL someday. With Koskenvuo signed all attention now turns to Canucks 2023 first-round pick Tom Willander to see if he follows Koskenvuo's lead and leaves the NCAA early to begin his professional hockey career.
