The Canucks AHL affiliate in Abbotsford announced the signings of Dino Kambeitz, Cooper Walker, and Joe Arntsen, who all won the Calder Cup, to new deals. The Abbotsford Canucks 2024-25 season was nothing similar to the Vancouver Canucks miserable one. It was a historic season to remember in Abbotsford as rookie head coach and former Vancouver Canucks forward Manny Malhotra took the AHL club all the way to win the 2024-25 Calder Cup championship. Vancouver made the controversial decision to trade top prospect goalie Arturs Silovs to the Pittsburgh Penguins, which means Abbotsford will try to repeat the same success with a very different-looking roster next season. Abbotsford lost Cole McWard, Christian Felton, Ty Glover, and Tristen Nielsen, while numerous others will be vying for a full-time spot on the Canucks' NHL roster in October, so it's safe to say the AHL team will have undergone quite the makeover. Although the roster will look quite different, some returning players have already been locked in as Abbotsford Canucks General Manager, Ryan Johnson, announced on Tuesday that they signed three championship forwards. Dino Kambeitz and Cooper Walker, along with defenseman Joe Arntsen, have received contract extensions to remain with the AHL club.

Loading from Twitter ...

The team then also signed three additional players for a total of six
Abbotsford did not stop there as they announced late on Thursday that they also signed forwards Ben Berard and Zach Okabe, as well as goaltender Jonathan Lemieux, to one-year contract extensions for the upcoming campaign.

Loading from Twitter ...

Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin is always desperate for more young talent to break through the surface and make an impact in the NHL, so he is definitely hoping that at least one of these signings, or possibly more, can be the next great NHL star.
