Tonight a new report has connected a former 30-goal scorer from the Edmonton Oilers to the Vancouver Canucks this offseason. The Edmonton Oilers are continuing on their path to the Stanley Cup Finals as they have taken a 3-1 series lead against the Dallas Stars in the Western Conference Finals.

Loading from Twitter ...

Despite still being alive in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, speculation has already begun on what their lineup will look like when the 2025-26 season begins. According to a new report the Edmonton Oilers will be looking to move on from veteran goal scorer Jeff Skinner this summer and the Vancouver Canucks are a prime landing spot.
Vancouver Canucks Linked To Former 30-Goal Scorer From The Edmonton Oilers
In a new piece for The Athletic, Vancouver Canucks reporters Thomas Drance and Harman Dayal discussed potential free agent targets for the team. One of the targets that the duo mentions the Canucks targeting is current Edmonton Oilers forward Jeff Skinner who will be a free agent this summer. We'd be remiss, however, if we didn't include him as a consideration. Skinner, after all, ranks among the top-30 NHL forwards in five-on-five points rate across the last three seasons and was originally drafted by the Carolina Hurricanes during Jim Rutherford's stint as general manager. Skinner, at the age of 33, is not the player he once was and has been relegated to a depth scoring forward in Edmonton this season. Despite being relegated to a bottom-six role Skinner still managed to score 13 goals in that limited role in 72 games with the Oilers this season. The Vancouver Canucks severely lacked depth scoring this season to surround their stars like Brock Boeser and Elias Pettersson. Add in Skinner's relationship with President of Hockey Operations Jim Rutherford and the low-cost and potentially high-reward move becomes a no brainer. With free agency just over a month away, the Vancouver Canucks are surely building their wishlist and it would be a surprise if Skinner isn't at least somewhere down the list. As more reports become available regarding the Canucks offseason plans we will pass the latest news along to you.
