The Vancouver Canucks have been linked to Claude Giroux this offseason as they look to regroup for next year. The Canucks are not technically eliminated from the playoffs just yet this season, but at this point their chances are slim and dropping with each game played. They are six points behind the Minnesota Wild for the final spot and with just 12 points left available, they would likely have to win each of their remaining games in order to squeak in. Consequently, the club's front office is already focusing on business that needs to happen over the summer in preparation for next season. Specifically, the team is in need of center depth after trading JT Miller to the New York Rangers. Two Stanley Cup champions have been linked to the team but neither is a good option on the second line. Now another veteran has entered the conversation for the team. That would be none other than Ottawa Senators center Claude Giroux.
Vancouver Canucks Linked To Claude Giroux In Free Agency
While he would not be a great option on the second line due to his age, he would being veteran experience and a scoring touch to the team's bottom six.

Giroux has 15 goals and 47 points through 76 games with Ottawa this season. He is up to 365 goals and 1113 points in 1258 games primarily with the Philadelphia Flyers. He spent the last three seasons with the Senators where he put up 71 goals and 190 points.

The 37-year-old is still searching for his first career Stanley Cup, so that will likely be a consideration for him in free agency this summer, unless the Senators can go on a miracle run this season. Can Vancouver offer him a realistic chance at the cup next year? Based on how this season has gone, that might be a bit questionable.
