Vancouver Canucks defenseman Filip Hronek missed multiple weeks with an injury that kept him from the lineup, but there's good news to be shared now that Vancouver's year is over.

Vancouver Canucks defenseman Filip Hronek, who was playing in the 1st year of a length contract extension that he inked last summer, missed multiple weeks with an injury he suffered in late November.
The Canucks missed his offense and leadership on the blue line, and would fall short of returning to the playoffs.

But as far as Hronek's status to continue playing in the upcoming weeks, there's good news to be shared. He's expected to join Team Czechia and participate in the upcoming IIHF World Championship that will take place from May 9 through May 25 in Herning, Denmark, and Stockholm, Sweden.

Filip Hronek promised to participate earlier. We are in talks with the club and are waiting for the exit inspection. We will inform you about the situation in due time.

Hronek isn't the only Czech native who is set to represent his country internationally. Utah Hockey Club goaltender Karel Vejmelka expressed his excitement to battle for the gold:
The next couple of weeks are going to be kinda slow and then I'm going to join the national team for the Worlds. I'm excited to be part of the team and battle for the trophy again.

Hronek, who was acquired in a 2023 trade with the Detroit Red Wings, signed an 8-year extension with an AAV (average annual value) of $7,250,000.
He played in 61 games this year with 33 points (5G, 28A).
This opportunity for Hronek will be a great chance for him to get back on track and play meaningful hockey deep into the summer before training for the 2025-26 campaign.
