Trade talk surrounding Canucks' Quinn Hughes continues to intensify, with the latest rumor linking him to the Detroit Red Wings, who may have just what they need.
The Vancouver Canucks continue to work the phones, with conversations involving several roster players such as Kiefer Sherwood, Conor Garland, Evander Kane, Drew O'Connor and Teddy Blueger.
But the loudest storyline remains the ongoing speculation around captain Quinn Hughes. NHL insiders maintain that a Hughes trade is unlikely during the season, yet the Canucks' struggles have only intensified the discussion.
Jeff Marek recently pointed to the Detroit Red Wings as a team to watch if Vancouver ever becomes open to moving Hughes, whether during the season, around the NHL Draft or later in the summer.
Where Detroit sits on Quinn Hughes' possible list of teams he's interested in
David Pagnotta echoed that view, confirming Detroit's interest, while Elliotte Friedman stated the Red Wings sit near the top of his list of potential landing spots. Marek mentioned Simon Edvinsson as a possible target for Vancouver.
Pagnotta referenced Lucas Raymond as another player of interest. Friedman added that the Canucks still want help at centre, suggesting any major deal for Hughes would require a quality centre coming back, which Detroit has.
"Talk on Quinn Hughes' future, if he gets traded it won't be for unproven assets. Talk on Detroit as a destination being high on the possible trade list. They have C's, and not depth C's, that could be part of a return."

Why a Quinn Hughes trade may not be as easy as many think
Despite the noise, there is no indication the Canucks are entertaining offers right now. Pagnotta also noted that Hughes and his camp hold significant control over his future and hinted that an unreported no-movement clause may activate in July 2026.
Hughes, 26, has produced two goals and 20 assists for 22 points in 22 games this season, remaining one of Vancouver's most important players as speculation about his future continues.
