NHL analyst Elliotte Friedman recently said that he believes the Vancouver Canucks and defenseman Quinn Hughes are going to have a conversation about his future soon, and that his name could potentially rise up more in trade rumours.

There isn't a whole lot that's going right for the Vancouver Canucks right now, as they're in second to last place in the Pacific Division, only two years after having won the Pacific Division.
Naturally, there are several players that are having their names pop up in trade rumours thanks to the team struggles, and the most notable player is captain Quinn Hughes.
Hughes has a year left on his contract beyond the current season, but there's a very real possibility that the Canucks could end up trading him away if they can't come to terms on a new extension.
Per a new report from NHL analyst Elliotte Friedman, Hughes and the Canucks are likely very close to having a tough conversation with one another about his future, and that his name could arise even further in trade rumours.
Elliotte Friedman: Re Quinn Hughes: I do think we're getting closer to the moment that this conversation is going to be held about his future...and could his name potentially be out there - Canucks Central (11/25)
So far this year, Hughes has 22 points (2G, 20A) in 20 games played.

Quinn Hughes Knows He Wouldn't Be In Trade Rumours If The Canucks Were Winning

Having been around the game long enough, Hughes knows that he wouldn't be involved in all of these rumours if the Canucks were winning more.
I mean, I think this is all about winning games. If we were winning games, Jim wouldn't have said that. I don't exactly know what he said because I'm not on Twitter or anything, but I heard the gist of it, and I think, like I said, if we were winning games, there would be no conversation about this.

But Hughes also thinks that the Canucks should have more belief in themselves in their ability to turn things around.
We should believe (in ourselves). I mean, we should be approaching every game like it is our last. Or how we approach the first game of the year, with that kind of excitement. We should be approaching tomorrow's game like that, as well. I don't know why anything would change. I think that's just being a professional.

Hughes was taken by the Canucks with the seventh overall pick in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft, and has played his entire career in a Vancouver sweater.
