A new report from Marco D'Amico of RG Sports has indicated that the Vancouver Canucks could be considering a full blown rebuild if things do not go well this season.

Over the last year the Vancouver Canucks organization has changed drastically with the team trading away J.T. Miller and then parting ways with head coach Rick Tocchet this summer.
Since then, the Canucks have parting ways with head coach Rick Tocchet and completely revamped their group as they look to get back into Stanley Cup Playoff contention.
According to reports there is a sense of urgency for the Canucks to get back into the playoffs and if big steps are not taken then the organization from the top down could make a major shift in approach.

Vancouver Canucks On The Verge Of Potential Rebuild

According to Marco D'Amico of RG Sports, the Canucks future could look drastically different by the trade deadline if the team struggles and Quinn Hughes has not signed an extension.
The long-term viability of their core hinges heavily on retaining and supporting stars like Quinn Hughes, and there have already been murmurs of discontent.

If Vancouver starts slow-and if Hughes gives any signs of frustration-things could spiral quickly. There is legitimate "blow-it-up" potential here.

D'Amico admits that the Canucks would need to have a full blown meltdown for major change to occur but that the possibility is out there the Canucks could tank for Gavin McKenna if they start slow.
A collapse could lead to a dramatic pivot, especially if they see a chance to land a future face of the franchise in McKenna.

Gavin McKenna is a Western Canadian kid hailing from Whitehorse and if things get off to a bad start could be looked at as the Canucks savior.
Of course, this all hinges on how the Canucks begin the season along with Patrik Allvin and Jim Rutherford's willingness to begin a rebuild.
Both Allvin and Rutherford have been in Vancouver for several seasons and there is a high likelihood they would not survive a full scale rebuild and stay in charge.
As the season gets underway, it will be interesting to see how the Canucks proceed and if they can fight off the rebuild talks for another season.
