This afternoon a new source has come out and speculated that the Vancouver Canucks locker room conflict has continued into the offseason. The 2024-25 Vancouver Canucks season will be largely remembered for the conflict between J.T. Miller and Elias Pettersson. The feud between the two ultimately led to a trade sending Miller to the New York Rangers and further rumors about Pettersson's long-term future with the team. As the situation was coming to its boiling point, there were reports that the disdain between Miller and Pettersson was beginning to impact the rest of the locker room, forcing Patrik Allvin and Jim Rutherford to make a move. After the move was made it was believed that everything was resolved with the Canucks moving forward backing Pettersson and the locker room being behind this decision as well. However, this evening, a new report has indicated this might not be the case as a new source believes some of the Canucks players could still hold a grudge against Pettersson.
New Report Reveals Potential Locker Room Turmoil Remains In Vancouver
In a new podcast clip from Sekeres and Price hosted by Matthew Sekeres and Blake Price joined by Jeff Paterson a contributor for Canucks Army the trio spoke about locker room tension in Vancouver. During the conversation, they spoke about a question asked to Quinn Hughes by the media about Pettersson. Hughes was asked about Pettersson spending time with him during the offseason, and reportedly, Hughes did not seem interested whatsoever in being around Pettersson. It sounded like Quinn wanted to wash his hands of that idea immediately. So it's not just management, it's not just the player development Hall of Famers, it's his own captain. Paterson continued and pondered whether Pettersson's icy relationship with the media this season was also affecting his day-to-day personality in the locker room. We know it wasn't a great season in terms of interacting with Elias Pettersson from a player and media perspective. I do wonder if that is the Elias Pettersson in that locker and if that is how he dealt and interacted with his teammates as well. Is he that cut off from the rest of his teammates in the room?

Loading from Twitter ...

While at the moment this remains speculation from the Sekeres and Price Podcast, there is a history of speculation turning into a frustrating and dark reality very quickly in Vancouver. As the offseason begins, it will be interesting to see if this is a story that builds up or fades quietly into the background.
