Insider reveals biggest complication preventing Canucks trade involving Jake DeBrusk

There are multiple Vancouver Canucks players who are involved in trade rumours, among them being Conor Garland and Kiefer Sherwood.

But another player that has seen his name recently be included in rumours is Jake DeBrusk, who is playing in his second year in a Canucks sweater after signing a UFA deal from the Boston Bruins.

Per a new report from NHL analyst David Pagnotta, DeBrusk could eventually be traded, but he'll have a say in the matter because of his no-trade protection as part of his contract.

So far this year, DeBrusk has 20 points (10G, 10A) in 40 games.

DeBrusk was taken with the 14th overall pick by the Boston Bruins in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft while he was playing for the Swift Current Broncos of the WHL, and would eventually make his NHL debut in Boston in 2017-18 after a year with the American Hockey League affiliate Providence Bruins.

In just his second year in the NHL, DeBrusk would help the Bruins reach the 2019 Stanley Cup Final, where they lost in seven games to the St. Louis Blues.

He would play several more years in a Bruins sweater before eventually deciding to move to the other side of the continent by accepting a seven year contract with the Canucks with an AAV (average annual value) of $5,500,000.

In 587 career NHL games with the Bruins and Canucks, DeBrusk has 334 points (176G, 158A).
