Tonight, former Canucks defenseman Frank Corrado revealed the three keys Vancouver need to accomplish to convince Quinn Hughes to sign long term. Quinn Hughes' future in Vancouver remains uncertain as the threat of him heading to free agency after the 2026-27 season looms large. To this point, the two sides have not discussed a potential extension and Hughes has confirmed he is just focused on improving this season and getting the Vancouver Canucks back in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. In a new segment with Sekeres and Price former Canucks defenseman Frank Corrado put together three key things the Canucks need to accomplish for Quinn Hughes to consider re-signing.
Former Canucks Defenseman Reveals Keys To Re-Signing Quinn Hughes
In the segment, Corrado spoke about the idea that the Canucks absolutely have to convince Hughes that Vancouver is the place to win the Stanley Cup. To accomplish that goal, Corrado believes that first and foremost new head coach Adam Foote needs to put in a system and culture that can lead to playoff success and mindset. The first thing is Adam Foote needs to have the team playing detailed playoff caliber hockey. That includes the offense improving. Next up, Corrado like most in the Vancouver fanbase believe an Elias Pettersson bounce back season is mandatory for playoff success. Pretty obvious Elias Pettersson needs to play like a number one center worth the value of his contract. He doesn't have to be a 100 point player but a point per game type player. Finally, the Canucks absolutely need Thatcher Demko to return to form and stay healthy over a long period of time becoming the elite level goaltender many remember him to be. Your franchise goalie in Demko needs to be in the net. He needs to be available for the long-term. Because when he is he's one of the best goalies in the NHL.

Loading from Twitter ...

All of these goals while somewhat up to chance are capable of happening this season for the Canucks as they have the talent to get back in the Stanley Cup Playoff race. If things go off of the rails again we could see Hughes request a trade or refuse to re-sign creating drama once again in Vancouver.
