Elias Pettersson had a massive letdown of a season in 2024/25, but now, his trainer has revealed he's primed to get back to his best this upcoming year.

The Vancouver Canucks came into 2024/25 with high hopes after a Pacific Division title the season before, but unfortunately, things went downhill from the start, with struggles both on and off the ice.
The main culprit of those struggles was Elias Pettersson, who saw his production dip from 102 and 89 points in the prior two years to just 15 goals and 45 points in 64 games played.

Bounce back season incoming for the Canucks star?

However, with Miller now gone and the team adding some talent on the wings, Pettersson appears primed for a bounce back campaign, with his trainer confirming that he's 'got his flow back'.
Elias is one of the most complex, exciting but also most elusive players I have ever come into contact with. A top athlete combined with a great artist. He can do things out on the ice that no other player in the entire world can do. Things that are almost difficult to discover and understand sometimes. Challenging Elias as a skills coach is difficult. I feel a tension, almost a little nervousness, before all our sessions together as I know that I am facing a challenging situation as a coach. I have to deliver at my top level. And I love that nerve.

That challenge put forth by his trainer has reportedly pushed Pettersson to the next level he needs to be at to be a superstar.
And this summer has been awesome! Elias is stronger physically than ever before but above all there is now a balance between his physical and technical skill set. One of the strongest memories from our summer together is when his hip and upper body «clicked». With that, so many pieces fell into place. He takes on speed and power with smoothness. His flow is back!

In an Instagram post, EP40's trainer was all praise for the work he's done, and with both the mental and physical side of his game recovering this summer, it's going to be an exciting year.
Only time will tell whether we can see the player that combined for 191 points in the previous two years or if he'll settle in around the 80 point mark as an NHLer, but with Brock Boeser coming back and the addition of Evander Kane, we could be seeing one of the top lines in the NHL for a resurgent Canucks team in 2025/26.
