Devils GM Tom Fitzgerald said he can't control what his players say about reuniting with their brothers, but did so with a cheeky smile, sending fans into a frenzy.

New Jersey Devils defenceman Luke Hughes has never been afraid to speak about his ultimate dream of all three of his brothers, including Jack and Quinn, being in an NHL dressing room.
That dream feels a bit more attainable in the wake of Luke's seven-year, $63 million extension with the Devils.
His deal, which runs concurrent with Jack's through 2030, cements the roots of the Hughes family legacy in New Jersey and fuels speculation that Quinn will follow his brothers sooner or later.
Devils GM Tom Fitzgerald, who discussed the signing with 'The Athletic', indicated the team envisions a long-term Hughes legacy in New Jersey.
"We want these kids to create their legacies in New Jersey, meaning the two that I have. That's the ultimate goal."

He again said he hoped to see his young stars shape their careers with the Devils, jokingly recognizing the constant speculation about Quinn's future.
With a smile, Fitzgerald noted that he couldn't exactly dictate what other individuals, Jack included, may have to say about his brother in Vancouver.
"When you talk about other teams' players, it's off-limits - however I can't control what other people say, including Jack."

Fitzgerald even joked that he would've loved to play with his own cousin, Matthew, and Brady Tkachuk, which made fans call it tampering on social media. The remark only added to the speculation of a Hughes family reunion in red and black.

Quinn Hughes is unable to begin contract negotiations until next summer, which will add to the speculation all season

For now, Quinn Hughes remains under contract with the Vancouver Canucks through 2027 and isn't able to negotiate an extension until 2026.
But with his brothers already under contract in New Jersey and the Devils emerging as a perennial contender, the speculation only continues to grow.
If the stars align, the NHL may one day see all three Hughes brothers chasing a Stanley Cup in New Jersey, or possibly even Vancouver, together, a fairy-tale scenario that would captivate fans around the league.
