Pro Hockey Rumors had it first, Victor Mancini got 2 years at $1 million AAV, and Vancouver locked in a cheap right-side bet.

Victor Mancini is 23, shoots right, came over in the J.T. Miller trade, and was a 2022 fifth-round pick by the New York Rangers.
The extension starts in 2026-27, runs through 2027-28, carries a $2 million total value, and keeps him under team control as an RFA at expiry.
That matters because Vancouver did not pay for upside here. It paid for cost certainty.
Mancini has 0-0-0 in 18 NHL games this season and 4-8-12 in 33 AHL games with Abbotsford.
Those totals do not scream breakout. They do hint at a defender the Canucks still believe can hold third-pair minutes.
You can see the exact setup in the clip, a young blueliner being framed as part of the next version of this roster.
This is the kind of move smart teams make before July gets expensive.

Victor Mancini stabilizes Vancouver Canucks planning

Fans should read this as a front-office tell, not a depth footnote.
The Canucks enter Saturday at 21-39-8, and that record changes the lens on every contract decision from here.
A cheap right-shot option matters when Quinn Hughes drives the top pair and Filip Hronek still needs reliable support lower on the blue line.
Mancini is not being paid to run a man advantage. He is being paid to close space, win walls, and move pucks out cleanly.
That makes this extension a roster-construction play, not a headline chase.
If he can give Vancouver honest third-pair work next season, this deal saves cap space for bigger summer problems.
