Tonight, a new report has connected the Vancouver Canucks to four centers who could potentially replace Filip Chytil. Unfortunately, Filip Chytil has suffered what appears to be another concussion which has put him out of the lineup indefinitely. With the loss of Chytil the Canucks' already thin center depth has become a major liability for a team with Stanley Cup Playoff hopes. As a result, NHL insider Frank Seravalli believes the Canucks will turn up the intensity of their search for a center on the trade market.
Canucks Search For Center Depth Continues as Four New Names Enter the Conversation
According to Seravalli, the Chytil injury has forced the Canucks to consider adding lower caliber talents than before just to fill the holes down the middle. He mentions Alex Wenneberg, Adam Gaudette, Kevin Hayes, Ryan Poehling, and Jean-Gabriel Pageau as potential targets.

Loading from Twitter ...

Each of these players are third line centers who have played in top-six roles in the past but do not generally have the upside to fit on a second line. Of these players, Hayes likely brings the most upside but has been working his way back from an injury for the Pittsburgh Penguins but could also be a cheap middle-six band aid to keep the Canucks afloat until the deadline. Sadly, for Patrik Allvin and the Canucks players with second-line upside are nearly impossible to find right now in a trade. As more details emerge regarding Chytil's injury it will be interesting to see how long it takes for Allvin and the front office to hit the panic button and make a trade for a center.
