Henrik Sedin remains a legend in Vancouver, and now his son has been called upon to represent Canada in a surprise announcement with the U18 soccer team.

For a long, long time, Swedish native Henrik Sedin, along with his brother called Vancouver home, as the duo became icons in the city for the Canucks franchise, and now, it appears as though Henrik's legacy is going on strong.
While many would expect their children to pursue hockey at some level, we now know that Henrik's son has chosen another path, and it's one that's clearly paying off for him well early in his career.

Valter Sedin to Represent Canada in U18 Soccer

Recently, the roster for Team Canada's U18 soccer team and their friendly matchups with Finland were announced, with many Canucks fans surprised to know that Sedin's son will take part, representing Canada in these games.
Earlier this year, the 18-year old joined Hammarby in Sweden after several years with the Vancouver Whitecaps, and now, after some impressive performances, the 18-year old gets his chance on the international stage.
The talented young midfielder is eligible to represent both Canada and Sweden if he desires given that he was born in Vancouver, a place where his family still resides, and despite the move to Sweden earlier this season at club level, he's now getting the opportunity for his first taste of international football.
While many would have expected him to excel in hockey, soccer is a sport that's growing in popularity in Canada, and given the opportunity at the U18 level, it may be just a matter of time until we see a Sedin representing Canada at the highest level.
