The Canucks suffered yet another injury, as Conor Garland left last night's game after taking a hit, and head coach Adam Foote had no true update yet. The injury bug bites the Vancouver Canucks once again. Conor Garland became the latest member of the team's lengthy injury list when he was hit hard by Rangers forward Sam Carrick at the end of the first period of Tuesday's 2-0 loss. Garland's helmet was removed. He played through the second period but wasn't available for the third. Head coach Adam Foote declined to comment after the game, saying only that the Canucks will have to keep going with the players they have available. It's the next man up and there's nothing you can do except keep going, Foote said. And that's what we're going to do. If Garland does end up missing any time, it would be a huge loss, as he is the team leader with 11 points (three goals, eight assists) in 11 games. Vancouver started the game with six players on injured reserve: Derek Forbort, Victor Mancini, Nils Höglander, Jonathan Lekkerimäki, Teddy Blueger, and Filip Chytil.

Loading from Twitter ...

Captain Quinn Hughes also missed his second consecutive game due to a lower-body injury and is day-to-day.

Loading from Twitter ...

The thin Canucks roster labored offensively, managing just 11 shots over the first two periods before pouring on some late action in the third. Lukas Reichel potted a team-best four shots, but none found the net.
J.T. Miller was booed when he touched the puck, but did receive one standing ovation during a video tribute
Rangers captain J.T. Miller came back to Vancouver on an emotional night, receiving a video tribute and a standing ovation from fans and players. New York's Jonathan Quick stopped 23 shots to record his first shutout of the season, the 64th of his career, drawing praise from Vancouver goalie Thatcher Demko afterward. He was my idol, Demko said. I grew up in San Diego, and he was kind of coming up through the ranks in L.A. and he was definitely a guy that I always idolized. And I've been around him a little bit over the years, just kind of working out in the summer and things like that, especially early in my career. And he got the better of me tonight. Foote downplayed the effect of another disappointing evening with his team, although he did highlight that his group will need to remain gritty while they struggle through an uncommonly early surge of injuries.
