Today, Vancouver Canucks record-breaking forward Kiefer Sherwood has now revealed his contract demands after switching agents. Last month, reports confirmed that Kiefer Sherwood would be changing agents and hiring Judd Moldaver to represent him in extension talks.

Loading from Twitter ...

Moldaver represents some of the NHL's biggest stars including Connor McDavid who is in a contract battle of his own right now. At the time, it was unknown why Sherwood made the move but now it seems clear he is hoping to cash in on his next contract.
Canucks Insider Reveals Kiefer Sherwood's contract Demands After Agent Change
A new report from Canucks analyst and insider Rick Dhaliwal has confirmed that Sherwood will be looking for a 5 to 6 year deal worth 5 million dollars per season.

Loading from Twitter ...

These numbers are significantly higher than expected for a player of Sherwood's caliber even with his record hits season.

Loading from Twitter ...

The Canucks recently made a similar choice to keep Dakota Joshua after he provided similar output to Sherwood but were forced to trade him away in a salary clearing move to the Toronto Maple Leafs. Sherwood does bring a physical element and changes the culture of the Canucks to make them tougher which many people believe the team needs even more of. Losing Sherwood would be detrimental to this goal. With this in mind, Patrik Allvin and the Canucks front office will have to decide if Sherwood is worth that type long-term investment or if the funds can be better used elsewhere. As negotiations continue, it will be fascinating to see if Sherwood's change in representation bring the two sides closer or further away from a deal.
