Rick Tocchet left the Canucks this past off-season, but according to Elliotte Friedman, he's ready to raid his former team ahead of the trade deadline.

The Vancouver Canucks made plenty of changes this past summer, but the biggest of all was replacing Rick Tocchet with Adam Foote, as the former departed Vancouver for the Philadelphia Flyers.
Unfortunately for the Canucks, they've struggled yet again in 2025/26 while the Flyers have taken some major steps forward, with many believing that the Flyers could be a genuine threat in the Metropolitan Division this season.

Flyers a major threat to target some Canucks players in trades

Unsurprisingly, that means they'll likely be looking to add over the coming months if their current form holds, and that could result in a trade involving Tocchet and Vancouver.
On the latest episode of the 32 Thoughts podcast, Elliotte Friedman opened up on trade rumours, revealing that Tocchet loves plenty of Canucks players, singling out Kiefer Sherwood, before noting that the two parties make perfect sense as trade partners.
I had a couple people tell me that Vancouver's got players that Rick Tocchet likes; I don't know if it's Sherwood, it would fit; a couple people said to me you better keep an eye on Philly when it comes to Vancouver's players.
Sherwood certainly makes plenty of sense, but with Vancouver potentially set to sell off some key pieces, the Flyers could look to raid the Canucks as they aim to bolster their exciting young team.
Only time will tell if a deal can get done between the two, but as of right now, it appears as though Vancouver will happily deal with Tocchet as long as they benefit from a deal.
