Despite there having been endless trade speculation on Brock Boeser, he was not traded, and he finally opened up after months of dealing with this saga. Apparently, Brock Boeser didn't get much interest at the trade deadline. That's what Canucks GM Patrik Allvin told Vancouver media Friday, adding that the offers were so bad he'd be run out of the press conference if he disclosed them. It's not exactly a ringing endorsement of one of your top forwards. Was this the negotiating tactic, or rather an honest gauge of the marketplace? Either way, Boeser, a future UFA, has an uncertain future now. His agent, Ben Hankinson, likely believes that he can get more in free agency than he's been presented with by the Canucks. Would Boeser even want to stay, after the team shopped him and devalued his trade worth in the public eye? Maybe, but Boeser himself spoke up and said he's happy to stay in Vancouver.

For now, at least, he's committed to helping the team move forward. Musing about looking ahead, the Canucks managed to scrape out a win against the Minnesota Wild last evening, making it two wins in a row that they badly needed. We need to build off these couple wins. The fans have been great. We need to have a good day tomorrow and understand who we got on Sunday. - Brock Boeser

The Canucks are still feeling the loss of J.T. Miller
While their defense is still sturdy, scoring the goals has not been easy, and the loss of J.T. Miller in the middle remains an overhanging cloud. Now, Vancouver is what it has been for a few weeks: a team with a rebuilt defense and a good penalty-killing unit, but a team still trying to find offensive consistency. If they're going to be a force down the stretch, they're going to need more than just close wins, they're going to need someone to step up and light this line, such as Boeser or perhaps Elias Pettersson.
