Vancouver Canucks head coach Adam Foote, in his first year behind the bench as head coach, admitted the trade Quinn Hughes rumours have become a distraction for his team in the dressing room.

There is perhaps no more talked about player in the NHL today in trade rumours than Vancouver Canucks captain Quinn Hughes, and it's starting to become a distraction in the Vancouver dressing room.
Per a new report from Canucks head coach Adam Foote, who is in his first year behind the Canucks bench as coach following the departure of Rick Tocchet, said that the constant rumours are weighing on the players and admitted that they're hearing them.
They obviously hear it. When I've been around things like that, you're not talking about it. You're trying not to think about it, but it's there, and you can feel it certain days more than others. I can feel it certain days more than others, and these guys are human. They can feel it.

Foote then gave the players credit for continuing to do their work as professionals and doing their best to not let the rumours affect them.
It can affect, for sure, a locker room. I have to give the guys credit. They're in a tough spot, hearing the noise. They keep coming to work every day and keep doing their job. They're pros, that's what they're supposed to do. They can hear it. It probably affects some players more than others. But, like I said, I give them a lot of credit for coming to work, trying to win hockey games, and do their job.

Quinn Hughes Could Soon Be Dealt From The Canucks

Even though Hughes still has another year left on his contract with an AAV (average annual value) of just under $7 million, the Canucks are going nowhere fast.
Only two years removed from winning the Pacific Division and going to Game 7 of the WCSF against the Edmonton Oilers, the Canucks have since missed the postseason and witnessed the departure of Tocchet to the Philadelphia Flyers; Foote, who was an assistant coach, was promoted to his job.
Additionally, the Canucks traded JT Miller to the New York Rangers after rumours of a rift between him and forward Elias Pettersson were reluctantly confirmed by team president Jim Rutherford.
