There has been trade chatter surrounding Nick Robertson for months now, and the latest trade proposal sees him going to Philly for Scott Laughton.

This offseason, the Toronto Maple Leafs added Chris Tanev, Jani Hakanpaa, Oliver Ekman-Larsson, Anthony Stolarz, and, just recently, Max Pacioretty as part of their effort to end their extremely long Stanley Cup drought. General manager Brad Treliving hasn't pulled the trigger on any major trades yet, but despite all the rumors swirling, it's been expected that, even after his recent contract extension, Nick Robertson might still be moved.
One of the trade ideas kicking around has Nick Robertson and Timothy Liljegren going to the Flyers for Ontario native Scott Laughton.
Philadelphia receives:
Nick Robertson, Timothy Liljegren

Toronto receives:
Scott Laughton, a future third-round draft pick

Looking at it, this deal could work for both sides as the Flyers would get two young players with their best years ahead of them while Toronto picks up a veteran center who's racked up 82 points over the last two seasons.
With Auston Matthews and John Tavares nailed down as the top two centers in Toronto, there is a little bit more ambiguity down the middle behind those two. That is where Scott Laughton could find a perfect fit. Obviously, losing Nick Robertson and Timothy Liljegren is not ideal, but with prospects like Fraser Minten, Easton Cowan, and Alex Nylander waiting in the wings, and several veteran D-men joining the lineup, they can almost be considered expendable.
This is a deal that could very well work for both sides and finally end all of the chatter surrounding Nick Robertson.
