Nikita Kucherov elbows Tom Wilson in the face and the two go at it

During the Washington Capitals versus the Tampa Bay Lightning game last night, Nikita Kucherov and Tom Wilson got into it when Kucherov elbowed him in the face.

Emotions were high during the Capitals versus the Lightning game last night, as the Caps looked to keep their playoff hopes alive. These emotions creates an intense atmosphere for the game, in which some liberties were taken. Surprisingly, Nikita Kucherov was involved in some of those.

During the game, Kucherov elbowed Tom Wilson in the face. While you can never say if something is intentional or not, the video of the elbow shows Kucherov looking over his shoulder to check where Wilson was before reverse hitting him with his elbow. Take a look.



Later, Wilson got his retaliation in on Kucherov, laying a massive hit on him away from the puck, which was clearly intentional.



Its clear that players are turning on playoff mode at this point, especially the Washington Capitals, who are looking to get into the postseason. The Caps were able to pull out a win against the Lightning, keeping their playoff hopes alive in the tight wildcard race.
