Matty Beniers trade rumors just got real, and Seattle Kraken fans feel the squeeze.

Nick Kypreos dropped Beniers onto his latest Trade Board, and that is never a random name.
On Tuesday, he wrote that Seattle would only consider moving him for a franchise-changing haul.
He is 23, a 2021 first-rounder, No. 2 overall, and the Seattle Kraken’s first ever draft pick.
Through 54 games, Beniers sits at 14-23-37, and Seattle is 26-19-9 in a tight Pacific race.
The social clip making the rounds frames it as Seattle listening, not shopping, which is a huge difference.
Listening just means GM Jason Botterill answers the phone, then asks for a top-six scorer plus futures.

Matty Beniers puts Seattle Kraken on a deadline edge

Honestly, Kraken fans are tired of "retool" talk, but they also know this roster still lacks a true finisher.
If Seattle flips Beniers, the return has to replace his middle-lane speed and his net-front work on the man advantage.
He carries a $7.14 million cap hit through 2030-31, so any deal has to balance money both ways.
Seattle can also use the threat of Beniers to pry loose a young winger without touching the blue line.
That is the real leverage here, a premium center under contract, not a rental with an expiring deal.
The Kraken play the Ducks on Tuesday, and I will be watching who rides shotgun with him at even strength.
If his line keeps driving chances and the results follow, this rumor cools fast.
But if the offense dries up again, expect more calls, and expect Seattle to keep saying the same thing, pay up.
Seattle doesn’t have to trade him, but the chatter won’t stop until the deadline passes.
