Connor McDavid reaffirms his commitment to bringing a Stanley Cup to Edmonton in new letter to the fans

This evening, Edmonton Oilers star Connor McDavid published a letter addressed to Oilers’ fans recommitting himself to Edmonton for the future.
The Edmonton Oilers have enjoyed a ton of success over the last two seasons despite falling short in the Stanley Cup Finals in each season to the Florida Panthers.
Heading into the season, McDavid’s future in Edmonton was in doubt as he did not have a contract beyond this season.
However, in early October, McDavid signed a multi-year deal with the Oilers to stay in Edmonton.
Now, just a few months later, McDavid spoke about he decision to re-sign and has doubled down on bringing a Stanley Cup to Edmonton.

During a new letter written in the Player’s Tribune, McDavid admitted that all he wants is to bring a Stanley Cup to Edmonton.
I don’t want to play golf. I don’t want to sit by the pool. I don’t want to be in the Bahamas. I don’t need a break, or a fresh start. I just want to be in Edmonton, playing hockey. I want to get back there again, whatever it takes. If that sounds like a robot, then I guess I’m a robot. But I see it differently. It doesn’t feel like work to me. It’s just the game that I love.
To finish the letter, McDavid also admitted he is excited to live out a childhood dream of representing Canada at the Olympic Games in Italy.
I really cannot wait for these Olympics. I’ll be bringing everything I’ve learned to Italy to represent my country. I’ve waited a long time to say that. I don’t think it will really hit me until I get over there. I was on the U17s the first time I wore a Canada jersey, and I’ve dreamt of this moment ever since.
While McDavid’a commitment to Edmonton and the Oilers had not really been in much doubt since signing his extension it is still nice to hear how much winning a Stanley Cup for the Oilers means to him.
