In game 2 against the Carolina Hurricanes, Jacob Trouba threw a massive hit that if it were to connect it would have connected with Martin Necas' head.

This is the clip of Jacob Trouba throwing his body at Martin Necas,
The hit was violent and some are arguing that the hit had intent to injure. The slow motion replay shows a high elbow from Trouba as well as Trouba's leg landing on Necas' head after the hit was thrown.
Today it was decided that no action would be taken against Trouba despite there being a strong argument for intent to injure.
This is what HockeyPatrol had to say on X about the hit and the timeline for suspensions,
"If Jacob Trouba had made contact with Martin Necas' head, he would likely have been suspended for the rest of the playoffs.

The NHL Department of Player Safety has chosen not to discipline him at all, however, as the 5PM deadline has passed."
Dejan Kovacevic on X also had some insight to give on the ruling and the choice for no suspension,
"Per NHL rules: 'A match penalty shall be imposed on any player who deliberately attempts to injure or who deliberately injures an opponent in any manner.'

Not a minor or major. A match penalty. It's actually DEFINED by INTENT, not outcome.

And nothing."
The Hurricanes will look to bounce back after falling to 2-0 in the series on Thursday, May 9 at 7:00 PM E.T.
