The Kings-Oilers game wasn't without its fair share of controversy, and Drew Doughty was seen blasting the officials on the ice during a controversial moment. If you missed Game 1 of the Edmonton Oilers and Los Angeles Kings last night, you missed a classic. The two old playoff rivals gave an unforgettable battle, but the finish left more to be desired, which we will definitely be getting in Game 2. The Oilers trailed by four but battled back to tie it 5-5 on an unbelievable rally with only 1:28 remaining. But then there was the disappointment. With 42 seconds to go, Kings forward Phillip Danault sealed the win with a knuckle puck shot, one that Oilers goalie Stuart Skinner could not stop.
The Oilers' defense and goaltending were very shaky
Skinner's miscue was awful, but Evan Bouchard had just as bad a night. Out of position, losing a race, not tying up his man, and then watching the final shot glide by, which was just awful defense. Kings veteran Drew Doughty was not happy with the officiating in the game, as he was seen on a play swearing at the refs, where he appeared to say that it's the playoffs, so these weak calls should not be happening.

Loading from Twitter ...

However, after the buzzer, Doughty couldn't help but smile. His team dominated for 40 minutes, only to have Connor McDavid try to steal the game. As Doughty told Oilers personality Gene Principe, he was just relieved his team was able to hang on. That was tough. I'm so happy we won that game because that would've been a shitty game to lose. - Drew Doughty

Loading from Twitter ...

Doughty is one of the jewels of the game, so it'll be a bad day when he hangs up his skates.
