Zach Hyman was hopeful of a return to the Oilers lineup soon, but now the team have received the bad news of a major setback for the veteran winger. The Edmonton Oilers 2025 post-season run ended up as a major letdown, and perhaps one of the biggest reasons for that was injuries, with the biggest being veteran winger Zach Hyman. Unfortunately, Hyman's Stanley Cup Playoffs run ended prematurely with a wrist injury, with the team hoping that he would return in early November after beginning the season on LTIR.
Zach Hyman May Not Return When Expected
Although the Oilers never set an official date for Hyman's return, he's eligible to come off LTIR on the 1st of November this weekend, but the latest update from Kris Knoblauch has revealed that Hyman won't be ready by then.

Loading from Twitter ...

He didn't have an official predicted date for Hyman's season debut, Knobluach did express some optimism that he could be ready the following Saturday, with the team desperately needing him healthy if they are to be contenders yet again in 2025/26.

Loading from Twitter ...

In Hyman's place, the Oilers have rolled with Andrew Mangiapane on the top line next to Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Connor McDavid, and with solid production, if Hyman takes that role again on the right side, Mangiapane moving down the lineup may give this team even more depth. For now, we'll see what Hyman can do early in the season given how wrist injuries can effect players for quite some time after a return, but if he can get back to 100% for this team, he gives them the balance at 5v5 and on the powerplay that they've been sorely missing in recent weeks.
