Today, former Edmonton Oilers forward Viktor Arvidsson spoke to the media and revealed why he mutually parted ways with the team to join the Boston Bruins.

This offseason the Edmonton Oilers drastically changed their forward group trading away several veterans.
One of the players the Oilers parted ways with was Viktor Arvidsson who was traded to the Boston Bruins.
When the trade was made it was reported that the Oilers and Arvidsson mutually came together and agreed that a change of scenery would be best for Arvidsson.
Now, Arvidsson has given an inside look at that discussion and why he believes the Bruins will be a better fit for him next season.

Viktor Arvidsson Reveals Why He Asked For a Change Of Scenery Before Trade To The Bruins

During the interview, Arvidsson spoke about dealing with injuries and lack of playing time that led to major frustration on his end.
Personally, I was a bit injured at the start, missing about 15 games. My role on the team wasn't really what I had in mind, but it wasn't what Edmonton had envisioned either. It turned into kind of a trudging season for me, with less ice time and a reduced role. Still, it was a fun and, above all, a very educational season.

After the season, Arvidsson spoke to GM Stan Bowman and the two sides agreed that a new home would be best for the Swedish forward.
We looked around a bit on the market, and I agreed with Edmonton that the best thing for me was to find something new that would be a better fit. It ended with Boston being interested, and I think it's going to be really fun.

Arvidsson found a good fit in Boston as he believes their defensive and hard working style under new head coach Marco Sturm will be a good fit for his style of game going forward.
Boston has always been a hardworking team,» he added. «They're strong defensively. It's always been tough to come into that arena and play because Boston's fans are very passionate. The whole city is a great sports town. That's how I see it, and I want to come in there myself and add a little spice.

As for what is next for Arvidsson he is hoping to become the player that many expected him to be in Edmonton returning to his prime.
Personally, I want to bounce back to the kind of seasons I had in LA and also in Nashville. That's where I want to get back to and be able to contribute offensively with my game. And then, of course, we're aiming for the playoffs-that's what every team does at the start of the season.

Now, it will be up to Arvidsson to prove the Edmonton Oilers wrong for playing him in the role they did last season in his new opportunity with the Boston Bruins.
