Edmonton Oilers' Stuart Skinner congratulates Calvin Pickard during a game

The Oilers' goaltending is a mess in these playoffs, and quite frankly, for good chunks of the season, and now they have made a huge decision for Game 3 tonight.

Following 11 goals against on 58 shots in just 108 minutes spanning two playoff games, Stuart Skinner's net woes have been the largest narrative for the Edmonton Oilers.
When head coach Kris Knoblauch yanked Skinner in a third-period TV timeout in Game 2, it wasn't merely a mercy pull, it appeared to be prep.
Calvin Pickard, the backup, may be getting the start in Game 3 on Friday, and they wanted to get him seeing some pucks first. Down 2-0 in the series, the Oilers can't be blamed for making the switch.

Calvin Pickard is your starter tonight, Oilers fans

It's now official, it will indeed be Calvin Pickard in goal for Game 3 for the Oilers.
Pickard is a desperate type of goalie, scrappy, unpredictable, maybe not textbook, but it might suit him well. The Kings likely haven't seen as much of him as they have Skinner.
Skinner's save percentages, .800 and .821 in Games 1 and 2, tell a rough story. Only one of those 11 goals (Byfield's bad-angle snipe in Game 1) looked like a clear miss by Skinner, but he'll be on the bench for the upcoming game.
Possibly, that will be safer based on the way the team has defended with their sloppy PKs, backdoor tap-ins, and endless odd-man rushes.
Even Pickard's relief appearance started on a sour note, as Adrian Kempe scored on a no-doubt shot with the first shot he faced.
Overall, even Oilers legend Grant Fuhr was probably happy to be on his couch in Coachella Valley, away from the chaos on the ice, and he even said before the team announced their starting goalie that it should have been Pickard for Game 3.
"My guess is the Oilers will go with Calvin (Game 3). If it finishes 3-2 or 3-1 in Game 2, you probably come back with Stu again, but when it's 6-2, they need something to change the momentum and the feel. A different look. You have to keep the players in it. You have to keep the fans in it."
