Tonight, Edmonton Oiled CEO Jeff Jackson spoke to the media and gave an update on contract talks with Connor McDavid.

Some sources have indicated a contact extension is all but guaranteed before the season while others believe talks will continue on into the season.
However, to this point, the two sides had not met and the organization had not yet provided an update on where things stand.
Today, that all has changed as CEO Jeff Jackson spoke to the media after conducting initial talks with McDavid's agent.

Oilers CEO Provides Reassuring Update On Contract Talks With Connor McDavid

In his statement on contract talks, Jackson confirmed the two sides spoke for over an hour and the biggest roadblock as of now is the length of the contract.
Despite this uncertainty, Jackson confirmed that once McDavid knows what kind of deal he would like negotiations should be completed in short order.
This clear and decisive statement from Jackson is a huge relief to Oilers fans who have been concerned that McDavid might not return.
This means that all focus will now be on McDavid's camp as they navigate their contract demands.
Hopefully, with the Oilers willing to meet any of McDavid's demand the negotiations will move quickly and be finished before the beginning of the regular season.
As more updates are provided on the negotiations between the Oilers and McDavid's camp we will pass along all of the latest updates.
