This evening an NHL analyst has put together a bold plan for Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers to get their offense back on track. KKris Knoblauch continues to be frustrated with the lack of offense produced by his forward group. With the trade deadline now passed the Oilers are not able to add any big time forwards to their lineup and still look to be underpowered heading down the stretch. The most alarming thing at this point in the year is the fact that Connor McDavid has not been able to live up to the expectations many have for him. This season McDavid is still playing at an elite level but is on pace for nearly 30 less points in the same amount of games as last season.

Loading from Twitter ...

With McDavid's struggles this season, he still has been able to perform well particularly in the last 10 games as he has an impressive assist streak going.

Loading from Twitter ...

However, overall McDavid still needs more help to get back to the incredible heights and expectations he and the organization have for themselves this season. A new suggestion from NHL analyst Allan Mitchell has revealed a potential solution to McDavid and the Oilers' problems upfront.
NHL Analyst Debuts Bold Plan To Get Connor McDavid Back On Track
In a new article for The Athletic analyst Allan Mitchell put together a solution to all of the Oilers scoring problems. First and most importantly Mitchell wants to put McDavid and Draisaitl back together like has happened in the past. As contrary as the idea seems, it might benefit coach Knoblauch to run McDavid with Draisaitl more down the stretch This would then push every player up the lineup including a promotion to second-line center for Adam Henrique. Henrique could be elevated to the second line with Nugent-Hopkins on the third unit. Then as the playoffs get closer the Oilers will need to find competent wingers for McDavid and part of doing so will be through getting healthy and seeing the return of Evander Kane and Trent Frederic. As the playoffs near, Evander Kane will return to health and Oilers fans will get to see Trent Frederic in an Oilers uniform. Until then, Knoblauch has to find a replacement for Nugent-Hopkins on the McDavid line. With just 16 games left in the regular season for the Oilers head coach Kris Knoblauch needs to get things moving in the right direction as quickly as possible. Over the next couple of games it will be interesting to see if there are any shakeups to the lines to try and get the offense back on track.
