Tonight, an NHL analyst from Oilers Nation has made a prediction that Edmonton Oilers forward Vasily Podkolzin is on the verge of a major breakout.

The Edmonton Oilers have significantly overhauled their forward group this offseason shipping out several players like Jeff Skinner, Corey Perry, and Viktor Arvidsson.
In the process of letting these established veterans go the Oilers have not really done much to acquire forwards capable of replacing them.
To many, this likely means the Oilers will be heavily relying on improvement from within from top prospects like Matt Savoie and newly acquired Isaac Howard making next year's roster.
However, the crew from Oilers Nation believes that Vasily Podkolzin could be the player that steps up the most next season.

NHL Analyst Believes Vasily Podkolzin Is On The Verge Of A Breakout

In a new episode of Oilersnation Everyday the duo discussed who could step up next season for the Oilers.
The analyst compares Podkolzin to a younger version of Zach Hyman and in some ways even ahead of where Hyman was at the same age.
This has sparked major belief that the chance for major improvement is more likely for Podkolzin in the coming seasons.
But Podkolzin is just coming off his age 23 season. Zach Hyman in his age 23 season played 16 games with the Toronto Maple Leafs.

While the duo does believe Podkolzin could be an x-factor for the Oilers this season reaching the lofty peak of Hyman is still of course unlikely.
Listen not everyone's going to be able to do what Zach Hyman did and be like a true late bloomer. But I would be willing to call him a lowercase Zach Hyman where he's never going to score you 54 goals but maybe there's 25 or more there.
Regardless, if the Oilers could turn Podkolzin into the top-six scoring forward he was supposed to be when drafted by the Vancouver Canucks he could turn out to be the missing link for a Stanley Cup run.
