The NHL may not be the most popular sport in North America, and a recent question about Leon Draisaitl on Jeopardy has proven just that. In Canada and parts of the United States, as well as Europe, hockey is one of the most important sports, but around the world, the popularity hasn't quite taken off like the NFL, MLB or the NBA. They have taken some strides in recent times, and with business booming, especially around expansion teams, Gary Bettman and the NHL are trying their best to expand popularity, but to this point, it's not quite yet paying off. That's been shown off several times throughout the years via attendance and viewership numbers, but now we've seen the unique way that this has once again been proven.
Hilarious Jeopardy Moment Shows A Lack Of NHL Knowledge
On the latest episode of Jeopardy, this question was posed to the three contestants; Leon Draisaitl stars for this northernmost NHL team but went to warmer Spain to propose to Celeste Dejardins. Now, all hockey fans would know the answer to this, but jeopardy is about general knowledge, meaning that hockey wasn't a priority for them, and that showed in their reactions.

Loading from Twitter ...

Loading from Twitter ...

Only one of the three contestants even proposed an answer, but unfortunately for that contestant, they suggested the Winnipeg Jets as an answer, leaving many hockey fans laughing about the lack of knowledge. Ultimately, this just shows that hockey still isn't in the mainstream as much as the NHL would like in North America, and while the one answer was an NHL team, it was wrong, and with the other two not even posing an answer, it left a hilarious moment for hockey fans to witness.
