Kris Knoblauch provides an unexpected return timeline for five injured Oilers players

Over the last month, the Edmonton Oilers have been absolutely ravaged by injuries with the latest coming to fan favorite Connor Clattenburg.

The consistent injuries have left the Edmonton Oilers without much needed depth and relying instead on young unproven talents to step up into bigger roles.

With the Oilers on the outside of the Stanley Cup Playoff race looking in, every game without their lineup at full strength leaves the Oilers at risk of driving themselves out of the playoff race by the time the trade deadline comes around.

The Oilers were hoping to have multiple players back in the coming days but that seems to now be a long shot according to head coach Kris Knoblauch.

During a recent press conference, Knoblauch was asked for an update on Connor Clattenburg, Jake Walman, Jack Roslovic, Kasperi Kapanen, and Noah Philp.

According to Knoblauch Clattenburg is the closest to a return but still around a week away while each of the other four will likely miss multiple weeks.

The most concerning update comes regarding Walman who was supposed to be back around this time but seemingly has suffered a setback which will see him miss a while according to Knoblauch.

This means especially on defense the Oilers will have to find a way to fill the hole in the top-four left by Walman through at least the Christmas break likely.
