Jack Roslovic was a big signing for the Edmonton Oilers, and according to Pierre LeBrun, he shunned a better offer to sign with the Stanley Cup contenders. The Edmonton Oilers transformed their roster in the off-season, but perhaps their best signing waited until the 2025/26 regular season officially began during their opening night Battle of Alberta. During that game, it was revealed that the team were finally signing Jack Roslovic after months of speculation, as well as the talented forward turning down the team earlier in the summer.
Roslovic turns down a better offer to sign in Edmonton
Not only do we know that Roslovic turned down an offer from the Oilers earlier in the off-season, now, TSN's Pierre LeBrun has confirmed that he turned down better financial offers heading into the season to sign with Edmonton in the hopes of chasing a Stanley Cup. I know for a fact that Roslovic had a better financial offer even last week that he turned down... for the cheaper one in Edmonton.

Loading from Twitter ...

Despite holding out for a better deal early in the summer, Roslovic is now showing that he's ready to sacrifice financially for the benefit of the team, as he will bring a wealth of talent and experience to a team that needed it, and on a relatively cheap contract too. Ultimately, the Oilers need players to sacrifice like captain Connor McDavid as they continue their pursuit of a Stanley Cup, and while not everyone is in a position to do so, now that Roslovic has done this, it adds another layer to this talented team as they look to take the final hurdle in their chase for the Cup.
