Insider Urges the Edmonton Oilers to Trade For 60 Million Dollar Goaltender Before the Deadline
NHL analyst Jeff Marek suggests that the Edmonton Oilers could try and make a play for Nashville Predators goalie Juuse Saros if they enter another rebuild.
The Edmonton Oilers decided to keep the duo of Stuart Skinner and Calvin Pickard despite urging GM Stan Bowman make a trade.
Even though no such goaltending move was made, they still managed to convince Connor McDavid to sign a two year extension. But it could be a signal from McDavid that the Oilers have to do everything possible to make him want to stick around beyond his short-term extension.
NHL analyst speculated that the Nashville Predators could be a team that soon undergoes another rebuild, and that it would be unfair of Nashville management led by general manager Barry Trotz to ask Saros to go through another rebuilding process.
I know the contract is lengthy and it's not small, but if you're not talking about looking at Juuse Saros, then what are we doing here? You can expect players to go along with one rebuild, I think that's fair. But considering how short careers are, you can't ask a player to go through two rebuilds.
If this is how Nashville is gonna go, I would expect Barry Trotz to have that conversation with Juuse Saros.....If I'm the Edmonton Oilers, again, the place that I'm looking at here, whether it's this year or next year with all the cap savings and the cap space, that's where I'd be looking if I'm the Edmonton Oilers. And don't even worry about the contract...don't even consider that whatsoever.

Will The Oilers Make A Play For Juuse Saros If The Predators Make Him Available?
The Predators re-signed Saros to a multi-year contract before the start of last year with an AAV (average annual value) of $7.74 million.
But he and the Predators came nowhere near to the playoffs last year, and have gotten off to an inconsistent start so far this year.
There could be major changes in store for Nashville if things don't improve, and the Oilers would be wise to inquire about Saros.
