Evan Bouchard responds to fan criticism after embarrassing performance in Game 3 loss

Today, Edmonton Oilers defenseman Evan Bouchard responded to criticism regarding his play in Game 3 against the Anaheim Ducks.
The Edmonton Oilers find themselves in unfamiliar territory down 2-1 in their first round series against the Anaheim Ducks.
Through three games, the Oilers have struggled immensely to play winning hockey in large part due to their inability to keep pucks out of their own net.
In three games, the Oilers have given up an astounding 16 goals and a lot of blame for their struggles has been placed on top defenseman Evan Bouchard.
After the latest loss, Evan Bouchard addressed the media and faced the backlash he has received head on.

During his press conference, Bouchard admitted that he and his teammates need to simplify their game going forward.
Bouchard believes that making extra passes and trying to be too fancy has been the his biggest downfall through three games and the key now will be getting pucks deep and on net.
We're trying to make that extra pass when they're doing a good job defending it. We gotta change things up, simplify, put it to the net & get rebounds.
While it is good that Bouchard is aware things need to change, he has in the past shown an inability to simplify his game when needed.
Despite being a favorite for the Norris Trophy as the NHL’s best defenseman many believe he shouldn’t even be a finalist due to his lack of ability to simplify.
If the Oilers are going to get back in this series Bouchard needs to take the biggest steps forward and prove he can be a number one defenseman in all ends of the rink.
If Bouchard cannot simplify his game and get the turnovers and defensive lapses under control the Oilers playoff run could come to an end quickly.
