Connor Ingram starts for the Edmonton Oilers Tuesday vs the Toronto Maple Leafs, and Andrew Mangiapane draws back in with heat rising.

This feels like a "right now" decision, not a long-view one.
Bob Stauffer says Ingram gets the crease and Mangiapane replaces Curtis Lazar.
Ingram’s season line is tidy at 6-3-1, 2.55 GAA, .901 save percentage.
He’s 28, a 2016 third-round pick by the Nashville Predators, and he’s playing on a $1.95M cap hit that runs through 2025-26.
The spot is loud because the Leafs can punish soft rebounds in a hurry.
Here’s Stauffer’s post with the update.
Oilersdaily also notes the rumour mill, and says a move before the roster freeze looks unlikely today.
Mangiapane has 12 points this season (6-6-12) and the fit has been choppy in a bottom-six role.
He carries a $3.6M cap hit through 2026-27, so the math matters if he’s drifting in and out as a healthy scratch.

Andrew Mangiapane puts the Edmonton Oilers on edge

Oilers fans have that familiar mix of impatience and hope, because this roster cannot afford passengers in February.
If Mangiapane brings forecheck pop, Lazar becomes the easy rotation piece.
If he doesn’t, the trade talk will not stay quiet for long.
The Oilers are 28-20-8, and these last games before the Olympic break feel like standings oxygen.
Against Toronto, the plan should be simple, win the slot, keep the man advantage sharp, and let Ingram see the first shot.
Wednesday in Calgary is right after it, so Tuesday is also an audition for who the staff trusts between the pipes.
